The Minster Centre is a well established, BACP regulated training organisation for integrative psychotherapy and counselling.
I completed the training with an MA (accredited by Middlesex University), the 'Advanced Diploma Integrative Psychotherapy' and a diploma in integrative counselling.
Integrative Psychotherapy uses tools and insights from many different psychotherapeutic schools to understand what is going on in your life.
My basic orientation is analytic but I am also trained to work humanistically and use interventions from body work as well as CBT. Most recently, I have integrated mindfulness into my work.
Work Experience
As part of my training I worked for several counselling services:
LGBT Counselling Service, Greenwich (London)
A counselling service for refugees and people in exile.
A counselling service that offered counselling to people referred by local GP practices (medical practices).
I have a degree in Christian Theology and have offered pastoral & spiritual care to people in hospital settings (and communities), for example:
2009 - 2017 Mental Health Chaplain at Highgate Mental Health Centre (NHS) as part of a multi -faith team, U.K.
2018 - 2022 Mental Health Chaplain & Hospital Chaplain in the Hannover Region, Germany
Having worked as a hospital chaplain, employed by the National Health Service (NHS) in the U.K., as part of a multi-faith team), I am very experienced working with bereavement and loss.
I have been involved in inter - faith work for many years. These experiences inform my psychotherapeutic work. I am aware that religion can be a source of comfort and strength as well as a tool of oppression. Religion can be used to silence and abuse people. We are seeing that on a daily basis. I am bearing the positive and the negative side of religion/ faith in mind when working therapeutically.
In life spirituality can be a source of comfort and strength but it can also be used to avoid the painful work of dealing with difficult experiences. Ultimately that is not helpful and I would not encourage you to do that.
I will not impose my world view onto you but walk alongside you.
